@Jessrama I do believe though that the reason why Stevie was compared to so many earlier blues players is because you could obviously and indefenitely hear his influences from Clapton to the three kings. I think his talked about like that because compared to Jimi, jimi’s playing was himself although he had so many influences he made it impossible for you to hear that. When you listen jimi your listeing to Jimi hendrix’s music not his influences, but stevie really kind of pushed his inlfuences.
Music is taking what you know and hear, and making it your own. I’m so tired of watching SRV, Freddie King, Albert King, Hendrix, Otis Rush videos and all the comments being “oh, they stole that from so and so!” Get over yourself. Music is music.
On this day 8-5-90 I had the the chance to witness him play at Waterloo Villige in Stanhope N.J. I was about 10 rows back & he blew me away….words just can’t say how awsome he & his band was. What a loss…Hard to think it was 20years ago.
@TheTopman37 What techniques are these? Although I agree with your original statement, I disagree with the way you’ve attacked modern guitarists who are on the cutting edge of what one can do with a guitar, not only perfecting their own abilities but also broadening the horizons for future generations, where’s the harm there?
SRV’s legacy is timeless; it cannot be obscured by modern techniques that most superficial guitarists are coming up with just to prove that they have carved out their own mark on the path of legends.
@kshackdabullet Would you like to state any facts to further your argument? The fact is, reggae = ska + black nationalism + rastafarianism. In my opinion, ska > reggae. I didn’t say anything disrespectful about rastafarianism, just that it ruined ska. Hell, look what it did to the Bad Brains.
2 fucks and a shit, but good job using that period!
been playing many years myself, and love ska, so this is an awesome lesson, and I’m already impressing friends with what i learned watching this. very cool
@insanemembrane16 Stevie reaches my soul. Hendrix sets my ears on fire

David lee roth’s yankee rose at the end. Wtf?

The main key to Stevie’s sound and technique is whacking his strings to get that bassy, stratty sound. he also uses those 2nd and 4th quack positions.
cool!!! marshall tones=rock and roll tje bloke interviewing is a wanker inte
